Mary Stevens Trust

January 2017 – May 2017 - Interpretation and Sculptural Ironwork

Commissioned by the Heritage Lottery and Dudley Council these three installations are inspired by the Edwardian gates and railings that have become iconic symbols of the park and Stourbridge as a town.

The pieces were made using traditional metalworking techniques so as to be aesthetically inkeeping with the park and its ironwork. The works are plinths for interpretation of the history of the site and its surrounding area, its natural heritage and manmade.

In collaboration with Footprint designs the interpretation scheme has been an immediate success and beautiful addition to the historic parks future heritage.

“Luke is an energy and listening to the pride and enthusiasm in how he produced his work and the meaning behind what he makes is inspiring. Not only is he paying homage by celebrating local industry, he is creating sculptures that will educate and inspire people of the Black Country about the local history of local people”.

Comments made by the nominator for Luke’s Black Country Masters.
