Luke Perry Sculptor

Living Literature.

September 2011- September 2013  ‘Living Literature’  Stourbridge Crown Centre Development.

This project saw the design, manufacture and installation of 130 sq meters of steel wall sculptures and the installation of a new library entrance gateway. Each of the artworks was developed with the library in design and research workshops with all ages. This involves historical talks, origami classes, ‘research in the reference section’ work with kids and many other engagement initiatives as well as much local publicity. The final form took on the shape of 5oo flying metal books, complete with titles and characters from their pages suspended from the ceiling of the mall as they flocked from the library. Made in steel, copper, brass and stainless they are a permanent feature and people often stop to spot their favourite title or piece of literature
