In Safe Hands.

In Safe Hands - Meadows Community College 2019

This large scale piece carved from one solid block of Yorkstone was commissioned in remembrance of the pupils of Meadows School who for reasons relating to their complicated conditions did not make it to the end of their education.

Meadows is a school for young people with often extreme disabilities which can unfortunately sometimes lead them to having shortened lives.

In Safe Hands is a commemorative piece in the grounds of the school, the hand representing the carer, those left behind. In its palm are glass stones, each designed by the remaining family of the loved one and with a carved inscription of the name of the person remembered.

The piece has been lovingly accepted by the school and the people whose families have been affected by loss.
