The Darlaston Murals – 2012
These 5 murals were commissioned by Walsall Council to decorate the hoardings of the new development in George Rose Park. Each one was designed with and painted with local residents, youth groups, PTA’s and Schools with the idea in mind that the murals would directly reflect peoples thoughts on their area.
What emerged was an exciting and quite controversial set of designs which addressed the issues of Misunderstand and Respect among local young people, a tidal flood washing the sins of Darlaston away, the fears behing collapsing local industry, integrity within parenthood and the future potential of local children.
These temporary murals were installed on site in often torrential rain but have become a popular talking piece for locals of all generations and social groups.
