WHAT WE STAND FOR.
I. H. S. is a Non-Profit Organisation, put together to build Public Artworks which celebrate the character, diversity and heritage of our communities in a very real way.
Our works seek to shine a light on subjects that have long been un-celebrated in an effort to bring a more equal representation to Public Art. We are proud that our works include the first public artworks to subjects such as; The Indian Army in the First World War, The Female Chainmakers Strike, Deforestation and Habitat Fragmentation, Immigration in communities, the coal strike and others.
We are also one of the first Public Art companies to be able to claim that our work is Carbon Neutral with planting and carbon offset schemes being supported as part of our financial policy.
We work directly with communities to design and build the artworks which will change the face of their town forever.
Luke Perry our director is now the winner of more than a few awards for his contribution to the community and as a consequence of this IHS’s work is closely followed with positive press coverage, being seen on television internationally, local and national radio and regularly in local newspapers.
Our monuments are built to last, using trusted techniques coupled with contemporary thinking to create sculptures and icons of our towns.
We have built the largest mining monument in the world, re-made parts of the industrial landscape, created life sized communities in steel and created some of the country’s most iconic figurative sculptures.
As well as monuments and landmarks we have become specialists in sculpture trails, working directly with the users of canals, town centres and nature reserves to create interpretation and sculpture.
In schools, colleges and libraries we regularly run workshops and projects that celebrate the cultures of their area or create inventive and fun artworks that everyone contributes to the making of.
Most importantly we stand for equality and civic pride, our hope is that the things which we build bring an understanding of our history and within that, a respect for our present and most importantly who we are.
